Practical Hanging Tips
Hang at Eye Level
The centre of your artwork should sit at 145–150cm from the floor — the average human eye level.
Mind the Spacing
Leave 5–8cm between frames in a gallery wall. Too much gap breaks visual flow; too little feels cluttered.
Consider Natural Light
Avoid hanging artworks in direct sunlight to prevent fading. North-facing walls offer the most consistent diffused light.
Balance with Furniture
Artwork should be roughly 2/3 the width of the furniture below it. Centre it horizontally for visual harmony.
Use the Right Hardware
Use wall anchors for heavier pieces. For lighter works, adhesive strips work well on smooth walls.
Trust Your Instinct
Rules are a guide, not a rule. If a placement feels right and brings you joy, it is right.
